Sigulda Ferris Wheel

The Sigulda Ferris wheel on Festival Square has been turning since 11 September 1974. It lifts you up to 30 metres, high enough to see the Gauja valley, the Livonian Order Sigulda Castle, Turaida Castle on the far bank and Krimulda Manor.

A town favourite since 1974

The Ferris wheel has been running in Sigulda for more than 50 years and has become one of the town’s most recognisable landmarks.

In 2014 the municipality considered taking it down, but more than 2,000 residents signed a petition to keep it. Specialists from Riga Technical University inspected the structure and found it safe to keep operating, and it still delights both locals and visitors today.

A view worth seeing in autumn

From 30 metres up Sigulda looks completely different: Festival Square and the rooftops below, and further away the Gauja valley, the Livonian Order Sigulda Castle, the red tower of Turaida Castle and Krimulda Manor. The view is at its best in golden autumn, when the forest in the valley turns yellow and orange.

On weekdays a ticket includes two rounds, so there is time both to take photos and simply enjoy the view. The Ferris wheel also appears on Siguldas Rudens Bumba, on the left side of its base.
